Metamaterials Fabricated with Rolled-Up Nanotechnology

Andreas Rottler

A self-rolling technique of strained semiconductor layers can be utilized to obtain metamaterials consisting of superlattices of alternating metal and semiconductor layers. In this talk I will demonstrate that these metamaterials can be used, e.g., as hyperlenses, active plasmonic metamaterials, three-dimensional fishnet metamaterials with negative refractive index at near-infrared frequencies, or to achieve a negative magnetic response at terahertz frequencies.
